Guide

How LumenX works

LumenX helps you prepare for AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, and AIME with daily practice, Solo, and actual past exams.

  1. 1

    Create a free account

Sign up with email or Google so your Elo rating, streaks, past exam scores, and daily history sync across devices.

  2. 2

    Optional: take the placement diagnostic

A short diagnostic estimates your starting level so solo practice matches your skill. You can skip it and start anywhere.

  3. 3

    Build a daily habit

One new extra practice problem each day (Pacific midnight reset). Solve it for XP and a daily streak, tracked separately from your Solo streak of correct answers in a row.

  4. 4

    Train in Solo Practice

Solo offers extra practice problems at increasing levels. Choose AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, or AIME. Your Elo updates as you solve.

  5. 5

    Run timed past exams

Take actual past AMC and AIME exams in their original order, with real timing and scoring: 40 minutes for AMC 8, 75 minutes and 6 / 1.5 / 0 for AMC 10 and 12, and 3 hours with integer answers for the AIME. Scores stay private until you publish them.

  6. 6

    Track progress

Analytics shows study stats, past exam history, and daily challenge trends. Leaderboards highlight Elo, XP, streaks, and past exam scores you choose to publish.

Problem sources

Every AMC 8, 10, 12, and AIME paper since 2000 is here in the order students took it, including years that had only one AMC 10, AMC 12, or AIME paper. Past exam problems are © Mathematical Association of America and used under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Formatting adapted. AoPS solutions are not copied; each problem links out to its wiki page. Older attempts that are not these exams remain labeled “Practice mock (legacy).”

Solo offers extra practice problems at increasing levels. They come from the public MATH dataset (Measuring Mathematical Problem Solving With the MATH Dataset), published by Dan Hendrycks and collaborators at UC Berkeley (NeurIPS 2021), and they aren't actual AMC problems. The tagged library currently includes AMC 8 (1,492), AMC 10 (1,644), AMC 12 (2,932), and AIME (1,276) problems.

Quick start

FAQ

Is LumenX affiliated with the MAA?

No. LumenX is an independent project and isn't endorsed by the MAA.

Where do the problems come from?

Past exams are the AMC and AIME papers students took. Solo offers extra practice problems from the public MATH dataset; they aren't actual AMC problems. See the Problem sources section.

Can I hide my past exam scores?

Yes. Past exam scores stay private until you publish them. On Past Exam Scores (Analytics), use Publish on public leaderboard for each attempt, or turn off Allow past exam scores on public leaderboards in Settings. Your full results and solutions stay visible to you either way.

Who is it for?

Students preparing for AMC 8, 10, or 12, club teams, and anyone building contest-math skills.

Do I need an account?

You can try some flows as a guest, but an account saves ratings, history, and leaderboard placement.

Why don’t I see complex numbers or trig on AMC 10 past exams?

Past Exams, daily challenges, and Solo follow MAA exam scope for each division—for example, complex numbers and trig are AMC 12 topics, not AMC 10.
